The bus then took us on down the road, more south and
west to Trieste, Italy; right across the border from Slovenia. We checked into
a beautiful hotel and took a short orientation walk around the hotel that is
right on the Adriatic Sea. The restaurants don't open until 7pm!!! So we had to
have some famous Italian gelato (better than our ice cream) to hold us over
until dinner!!! And of course, it did the job!!!
Trieste is city and a seaport in northeastern Italy. It
is situated towards the end of a narrow strip of Italian territory lying
between the Adriatic Sea and Slovenia. It is also located near Croatia some 19
miles further south. It is also 30 miles east of Venice, our next stop.
